“I lean not on my own understanding; my life is in the hands of the Maker of Heaven. I give it all to you, God, trusting that you’ll make something beautiful out of me . . . There’s nothing I hold onto!” (Nothing I Hold Onto by the Palms Project)
This has been the song of my heart for about a year now as I continue to dive deeper into what truly surrendering my life to the Lord looks like. This year is a part of that surrender. It all started when a switch flipped my junior year of college to leave behind the world of striving I was chasing after, in exchange for a far deeper calling on my life. Senior year, through an array of miraculous circumstances, I decided to say, “Here I am Lord, send me!” and he has now led me overseas to serve with Cru in the Czech Republic doing relational high school and college ministry. Truly, there is nothing I hold onto!
I struggled for a while on how to combine my hard skills, soft skills, and call to ministry all in one, and honestly, I have no clue what this next year will look like for me. And trust me, this is a lot coming from a natural planner, controller, and achiever, but I have truly never been more grateful that my life is in the hands of the Maker of Heaven!
